New structure of the ternary compound DyAlSi

A new structure of the high-temperature phase of the ternary compound DyAlSi was discovered and determined by X-ray powder diffraction technique using the Rietveld method. At 993 K; the ternary compound crystallizes with a tetragonal; α-ThSi2 type structure; space group I41/amd (No. 141); a; 4.1254(5); Å; c = 14.4079(3) Å. The new structure of the compound was refined from X-ray powder diffraction data. The R-factors of Rietveld method are Rp = 0.106 and Rwp = 0.135; respectively. © 2005 Elsevier B.V.
