Effect of ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass on structure and microwave dielectric properties of zinc silicate ceramics

The effects of ZnO-B2O3-SiO2(ZBS) glass doping content on the sintering behavior, the microstructure and the microwave dielectric properties of Zn2SiO4 ceramics were investigated. The results indicated that the major phase of the ceramics doped with ZBS glass was willemite structure, and the sintering temperature of Zn2SiO4 ceramics lowered from 1300°C to 900°C. There was a decreasing trend in the dielectric constant and the quality factor with increasing glass content. Especially, when the ZBS glass content was chosen as 20 wt%, the ceramics sintered at 900°C for 2 h exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties: Εr=6.85, Qf=31690 GHz, τf=-28×10-6/°C, which demonstrated a potential application value in low temperature co-fired ceramics field.
