Conceptual design optimization based on synchronous structure and tolerance design

To ensure the feasibility of conceptual-structure design and its cost saving, the tolerance design was set in the conceptual design stage and its key technologies were studied. Firstly, the process model of synchronous structure and tolerance design and the corresponding tolerance representation model were constructed based on a structure growth design methodology. Then the methods for the auto-generation of local dimension chain and overall dimension chain in the design process were studied. The whole frame of synchronous tolerance design and subsequent conceptual design optimization based on the tolerance results was established, which could optimize the conceptual design based on tolerance. Finally, the validity of the methodology was proved by piston clamp design.
