Targeting on improving the efficiency of green product concept design, knowledge reuse method is taken to solve the problem. Green design unit is represented by extension matter-element, and a model of a multi-hierarchy and multi-realm iteration process of green design knowledge is set up. Green design unit cases are classified by K-means clustering algorithm, a retrieving method for green design unit cases is proposed based on the mapping relationship of four realms: Function, behavior, structure and green design. An uncertain multiple attribute utility decision making method is presented for the scheme optimization targeting on the best green performance. Taking the concept design of food mixing machine as an example, the above mentioned method is validated and analyzed. It has been demonstrated that the present knowledge reuse method can improve the efficiency of green product concept design. © 2013 Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
