This paper investigates the fuzzy based coordinated control of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) loop and Automatic Generation Control (AGC) loop In the damping of generator's electromechanical local mode of oscillations that yields robust dynamic performance over a wide range of system operating conditions. The present work establishes that Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controlled AGC loop assists the A VR loop in damping the oscillations resulting in improved transient response. The paper utilizes a novel class of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) termed as Craziness based Particle Swarm Optimization (CRPSO) as optimizing tool to get optimal gains of PID controller installed in AGC loop and PSS parameters of AVR loop. For on-line, off-nominal operating conditions Takagi Sugeno Fuzzy Logic (TSFL) has been applied to get the transient response.
