Chemical oxidative polymerization of ppy and its corrosion resistance on the surface of metals

Polypyrrole was synthesized by chemical oxidation from pyrrole, and its molecular structure was characterized by FT-IR spectrum. A film by using polypyrrole as functional component was prepared on the magnesium surface, and its anticorrosion properties for magnesium were investigated by open circuit potential and potentiodynamic polarization curves, and the rule of anticorrosion property with different concentration of polypyrrole in the film was studied in detail. The results indicated that the film contained polypyrrole with the concentration of 0.55% (m/m) displayed an excellent anticorrosion property for magnesium, and the film is well compatible.
