Digitalization often leads to data-based business models. Due to increasingly volatile markets and the trend towards “lot size 1” production, this is extremely relevant for manufacturing companies. Based on scientific and commercial sources, this paper develops five data categories for customer, machine, product, personnel, and supply chain data, which serve as a basis for a data monetization model (DMM).
