摘要
As Indian Government is planning to replace 30% of IC engine vehicle to EV by 2025 and 80% of IC engine vehicle to EV by 2030, there is a dire need to analyse the impact of this transition in Indian electricity grid. Accommodation of EVs poses an extra burden on existing grid. This paper analyses the impact of charging EVs at home on power distribution components. In this work, a sample area is selected. The power distribution demography of the area, containing the number of distribution transformers, their capacity from nearby substations, is collected. The information of households of sample area, containing their existing electricity connection, usage pattern and number of vehicles owned by individual household has been collected. The need of charging this vehicle at home increases the demand of electricity as well as shifts the peak load of the area. The increase in electricity demand is calculated for 2025 and 2030 respectively with many charging scenarios. Technical and financial impact of increased demand on existing transformers and other components are analysed. Later, probable solution to shift the peak load and accommodate this increased demand is discussed. © 2024 Inderscience Publishers. All rights reserved.
