A design method of composite thermal control of integrated optical fiber IMU based on VPX architecture

In order to adapt to the development of low cost and high integration of control system, fiber optic IMU trends to be highly integrated design. However, due to the high integration of the precision instruments and a large number of electronic components, the heat flux in IMU increases greatly, the traditional thermal design method can’t solve the problem well. Based on the integrated optic fiber IMU of VPX architecture, a composite thermal control method is proposed, which includes temperature compensation, forced air cooling and phase change material. According to the thermal simulation and the ground test, the result showed that the temperature of the inner-platform of the integrated optic fiber IMU can be controlled within the normal operating temperature range of the inertial instrument. Therefore, the method demonstrated such an approach is possible for the highly integrated system design. © 2024 Editorial Department of Journal of Chinese Inertial Technology. All rights reserved.
