摘要
Integration of renewables is increasing in China’s power grid. This impairs voltage stability of power systems. New instability phenomena have arisen under low voltage ride-through (LVRT) control of renewables. This paper starts from new P-V characteristics of power systems, studies related transient performances, and intuitively explains the physical mechanism of new instability phenomena in practical operation, i. e., continuous LVRT and repeated LVRT. A novel dynamic model of new instability phenomena is established based on the hybrid system theory. To overcome the difficulties in complex expressions and analytical analysis of the hybrid system model, this paper uses existing mature calculating tools and utilizes power-flow results in different boundary conditions. A discrimination method for the transient voltage instabilities is proposed and verified. © 2024 Automation of Electric Power Systems Press. All rights reserved.
