Here, the concept of tandem-linked double cylinder flow induced oscillation was proposed, the oscillation motion equation was established to analyze force and motion laws, the oscillation test device was built, and flow-induced rotation characteristics of tandem-linked double cylinder were explored based on indoor tests. The study could provide a reference for design of flow-induced vibration power generation equipment. It was concluded that tandem-linked double cylinder oscillation response exhibits a vortex-induced vibration pattern; the spacing ratio more largely affects oscillation amplitude and locking interval, when the spacing ratio is 4, the oscillation amplitude is the smallest and a re-growth zone appears in response, when the spacing ratio is 6, the amplitude is the largest, and when the spacing ratio is 8, the locking interval is the largest; system stiffness has a small impact on the trend of oscillation response, but differences among maximum amplitudes under different stiffness are obvious; the maximum arc length ratio A' in tests is 0. 98, it occurs under the stiffness condition of 1 400 N/m. © 2024 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.
