Global Control of Spiral Wave Dynamics in an Excitable Domain of Circular and Elliptical Shape

The feedback control of spiral wave dynamics demonstrating the existence of resonance attractor within an excitable domain of circular and elliptical shape was investigated. The study was performed in a thin layer of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky solution subjected to a global feedback. The study suggested that a saddle-node bifurcation induced by domain eccentricity variation was capable of destroying the resonance attractor in an elliptical domain. The experimental observation of anchoring of spiral waves at certain points of an elliptical domain was analyzed.
