摘要
Environmental Fuel Development (EFD), a fuel processing company, has developed a patented technology to recover fuel grade diesel from mixed plastic waste. The waste stream is heated above 700 C in a near-vacuum and sprayed on to a catalytic plate to produce the diesel fuel, along with natural gas. The company has a demonstration plant at Kelso, and will commercialize the process, dubbed thermalysis, through a series of licensing deals. The process produces diesel with sulfur content of around 1 part per million, which is far less than that produced from virgin oil, and could be used in existing diesel engines without modification.
