Kinetic analysis of the process of formation of alkoxyamines as applied to the problem of 'living' radical polymerization

The kinetic analysis of the formation process of alkoxyamines was carried out. A calculation procedure for the quantitative prediction of the yield and composition of the synthesis products was developed. The previously known compound Ri(M)nX, where Ri is the benzoyl peroxide radical, M is styrene, X is 2,2',6,6'-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy, and n=1, and a new compound, where Ri is the dicyclohexyl peroxydicarbonate radical, were obtained. The products were analyzed by chromatography and cryoscopy. The obtained data are consistent with the results of quantitative prediction. On the basis of the developed procedure of the kinetic analysis, practical recommendations for optimization of the formation process of alkoxyamines were formulated.
