Black needle-shaped crystals [Cu(1,2-pn)2(H2O)]2 {[Cu(1,2-pn)2][V15O36(Cl)]} ·H2O were obtained by hydrothermal reaction of V2O5, CuCl2, 1,2-diamino propane and H2O in molar ratio of 3:1:8:400 at 150°C for three days. As determined by X-ray structural analysis of single crystal, this compound is crystallized in rhomic system, Cmcm space group with a=1.2 676(3) nm, b=2.0 931(4) nm, c=2.2 577 (5) nm. In the crystal structure, the cage-like clusters [V15O36(Cl)]6- connect with the coordination groups [Cu (1,2-pn)2]2+ through Cu-O covalent interactions and form an one-dimensional anion chains, while the cation groups [Cu(1,2-pn)2(H2O)]2+ occupy the interchain position and take the roles of charge balance and space compensations.
