Oxidation kinetics, morphology and constitution of oxides formed on alloy 800 H at high temperature were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The results show that the scales formed at 700°C are similar to that formed at 800°C, mainly composed of (Cr, Fe)2O3 and Mn-Cr oxides. The scales formed at 900°C are much thicker with three layers: an inner layer of Cr2O3, an interlayer of Cr-Fe-Mn oxides and an outer layer of Ti-riched oxides. The oxidation of 800H alloy is simulated by thermodynamics and kinetics calculation, and TiN particles are considered to change the scales structure.
