摘要
Based on the theory of gearing and gear generation mechanism, this work develops a mathematical model for straight bevel gears with the octoid form. The proposed mathematical model is then applied to plot computer graphs of straight bevel gears with the octoid form. In addition, the geometries and characteristics of this type of gear tooth surfaces are also studied. The mathematical model developed herein can facilitate further investigations on tooth contact analysis, profile shifting and tooth undercutting of the straight bevel gear.
