Keeping it all in the family

The new Ford Mondeo is an important car for Ford, so important, in fact, that its success or otherwise will determine the company's future in Europe. Not content with launching a brand new model, which shares virtually nothing but the name with the outgoing model, Ford has also introduced not one, but two, new engine families - a new family of petrol engines and a new direct-injection turbo-diesel engines.
