Research on the foaming process of smelting reduction of blast furnace dust and sludge in iron bath

The foaming process curve under different conditions has been determined in iron bath during smelting reduction of blast furnace dust and sludge. The formation and rupture coefficients, the average foam life and foaming density for quantitative description of the foam caused by reduction gas have been given by means of experimental data and foam behavior equations. From the experimental results a suggestion is given that the temperature of iron bath should be controlled at about 1500°C. In the slag, the binary basicity is 1.2-1.3 and the content of Al2O3 is lower than 16%. The added amount of blast furnace dust and sludge should be less than half of the slag weight.
