The authour of this paper received 2006 Frank Newman Speller award in recongnition of significant international contributions through development of new corrosion resistant alloys for oil and gas industry and through activities to corrosion engineering. In this paper, corrosion reactivities and spontaneous passive film formation behaviors were described in oil and gas production environments with CO2 and H2S mainly based on contents of Frank Newman Speller award lecture held in Corrosion 2006 conference. The spontaneous passive film formation behaviors were particulary discussed from a standpoint of corrosion reactions and the solubility of corrosion products estimated by thermdynamic calculation at elevated temperatures.
