An approach for clutter spectrum compensation based on similar measure

The clutter spectrum depends on range in non-sidelooking arrays, which leads to inaccuracy estimation of clutter statistical property and a wide clutter notch in space-time adaptive processing (STAP). According to clutter model, we present a method for compensation of clutter spectrum base on similar measure. The similarity measure for spectrum structure is described by a set of values defined by the inner product between the steering vector of range bin under test and of adjacent range bins. The clutter covariance matrix is weighted by these values and then conventional STAP could be applied to the clutter suppression. Simulation results show a good improvement in processor performance.
