On the subharmonic resonance and the second harmonics of a plane wave in nonlinear elastic bodies

A number of similarities in the processes of an appearance of the subharmonic resonance in linear mechanical systems and a formation of the second harmonics of the plane wave in nonlinearly deformed elastic bodies are described. It is noted that linear mechanical systems are classified as a classical mechanics subject and thoroughly studied. Then the knowledge of the mechanical and mathematical similarity between these systems and systems describing new waves generation in rigid bodies is very useful.
