In this paper, the conception, sort and process for fabrication of gel electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells are introduced, and the research advances in three different gel electrolytes including low molecular weight organic gel electrolyte, polymer gel electrolyte and gel electrolyte with nanoparticles are summarized.
