Simulation and experimental study on the adaptive fuzzy integrated control of vehicle electric power steering and active suspension systems

Based on vehicle active suspension and electric power steering models established, which contain steering, pitching and rolling models, by applying adaptive fuzzy control scheme and utilizing the changes of vehicle body posture to dynamically adjust the output of controllers for active suspension system (ASS) and electric power steering system (EPS), the integrated control of ASS and EPS is realized. For verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the system, simulations and real vehicle road tests are conducted respectively. The results show that the integrated control of ASS and EPS markedly enhance the ride comfort and handling stability of vehicle, with the overall performance of vehicle apparently superior to that of traditional suspension and steering systems.
