Recent developments in the field of garment dyeing are outlined. Two main types of machine are used for this purpose. The washer-drier gives a good, fast performance at high temperatures with easy loading and unloading. It is ideal for small and medium-sized batches. The oval tub machine is a simple design which today features the innovations of rapid unloading and control by microprocessor. Other innovations in this sphere include painting booths identical to those used in the car industry, extremely low dye to water ratios, enzyme treatment instead of stone-washing, and innovations in hosiery dyeing.
