摘要：

A geometric theory of orbiting is given and an approximate representation of the scattering amplitude is obtained in terms of moving poles. Furthermore, a fitting formula for the phase shifts that also accounts for the role of the nonresonating phase shifts is derived. Finally, orbiting and diffracted rays, as well as resonances and diffraction are differentiated.
