摘要：
The Government of India amended the Electricity (Supply) Act in 1976, leading to the establishment of National Thermal Power Corporation and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. The companies were given the mandate of adding new generation capacities and giving a boost to the power sector in the country. Both of these, along with other central power generating companies, have contributed significantly in terms of adding capacity as well as achieving levels of operational efficiency.
