Cascades Inc has acquired the two tissue mills from Plainwell Inc for US$57.4 million. The Plainwell mills produce bathroom tissue, paper towels, paper napkins and facial tissues and have a capacity of 110,000 short tons. The acquisition of the Plainwell consumer products division is expected to double the Cascades' production capacity and produce sales of close to C$650 million per year.
