Ethylene-vinyl acetate rubber (EVM) is an important synthetic rubber. The reinforcement of EVM with unsaturated carboxylates, the impact modification of nylon 1010 with EVM, and EVM/ternary nylon copolymer blends were reviewed. The mechanical properties of EVM vulcanizates can be significantly improved with in situ formed unsaturated carboxylates, which is an approach to get high performance and functional EVM vulcanizates. The notched impact strength of nylon 1010 can be greatly increased by blending with EVM, depending on the vinyl acetate content and Mooney viscosity of EVM. Thermoplastic elastomers with good mechanical properties can be prepared by dynamic vulcanization of EVM and with ternary nylon copolymer blends. EVM blends with different hardness and good mechanical properties can be prepared by blending with plastics, which is of great importance for the development and application of EVM.
