Sample preparation and determination of microelements in water by reversed-phase HPLC

A method of sample preparation of different waters for determination of Cd, Co, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb and Zn by reversed-phase HPLC was proposed. The microelements were preconcentrated as diethyldithiocarbamate complexes by solvent extraction after UV irradiation of the sample in the presence of potassium persulfate. The application of this procedure to the analysis of Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, and Hg in natural and drinking water was demonstrated.
