Semi-analytical research on heat-transfer characteristics of regenerative heat treating device

The semi-analytical numerical method on the periodical heat transfer between the gas and the solid matrix in the thin-walled regenerator of metal heat-treating furnaces were proposed and some experiments were investigated. The results show that neglecting to solid axial conduction parallel to the gas flow and based on the assumption of thin wall, a dynamic periodical heat transfer model of regenerator is established, and the non-dimensional quantities of the linear differential equations are processed. The accurate solution to the continuous function of temperature profile of the gas and solid is achieved through Laplace transformation for equations and using the computer algebra system Matlab. The semi-analytical numerical results of regenerator temperature profiles are in acceptable agreement with the experimental data. The maximum temperature efficiency and the optimal switch time are proved.
