This paper first introduces a SDOF model capable of representing the key properties associated with earthquake-induced collapse. Then; based on the collapse capacity spectrum; the influence of various structural properties on the collapse resistance of SDOF systems is discussed; which include fundamental period; ductility ratio; post-yielding stiffness; post-capping stiffness; hysteretic pinching; cyclic deterioration and P-Δ effect. Furthermore; the influence of ground motion features on the collapse resistance of SDOF structures was also discussed; by comparing the collapse capacity spectra calculated based on far-field ground motion set; near-field no-pulse-like ground motion set and near-field pulse-like ground motion set. The result shows that: the fundamental periods; ductility and P-Δ effect are dominant factors in collapse evaluation; structures with fundamental periods ranging from 0.4 s to 1.8 s are more vulnerable to the near-field pulse-like ground motions and structures with fundamental periods ranging from 2.6 s to 5 s are more vulnerable to the far-field ones;
