摘要
An industry survey reported that the demand for solvents in printing inks is expected to decrease to 1.3 billion lbs by 2012, as manufacturers are making efforts to reduce the amount of volatile organic compound (VOC). Advances for solvents will remain same despite of an increase of printing ink production because manufacturers are looking forward to use green solvents. Solvents have specific solubility, tack, and viscosity characteristics which depends on their chemical composition and molecular structure. The paraffinic-based solvents has low solubility, high tack stability, and the highest solution viscosity. Increasing environment concerns and use of renewable resources plays a significant role in the decline of solvent use. Soy-based inks provide excellent rub resistance, brighter and consistent color, high stability on the press, and easy tuning during printing.
