U.S. newsprint demand and shipments plummet

The fall in the demand for newsprint in the US and a reduction in its shipment is reported. According to preliminary industry data, there was a 5.5% reduction in the North American shipments of newsprint. This indicates a contraction of newsprint consumption, already paralyzed by a four-month downturn. The reduction in domestic shipments of newsprint is accompanied by a simultaneous increase in US mill inventories by 27%.
