In manufacturing, one lives through spend-averse time, particularly when it comes to IT. Managements can be forgiven for wanting to reap the benefits of the investments they have already expensively made, classically in ERP systems, before doing more. As such, advanced planning and scheduling (APS) was starting to see some real take-up among manufacturing SMEs in the face of proven, pragmatic and wide-ranging benefits.
