If functionalities required for Performance Monitoring, Condition Monitoring or (Plant) Asset Management are to be implemented plant-wide, it is necessary to automate the engineering process (automation of automation). In this paper we present a modular and generic function block approach allowing for the determination and evaluation of characteristic curves without any knowledge about the specific application.
