Zirconium-containing materials are widely utilized for producing the special ceramics in refractory industry. The materials can be made from baddeleyite concentrates produced at 'Kovdorskij GOK' company. However, complex composition of ore leads to production of individual batches of the concentrates with increased content of radionuclides. In addition, concentrates with low contents of SiO2, Fe2O3, TiO2, P2O5, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, SO3 should be manufactured. Special chemical technology for manufacturing the concentrates with the use of sulfuric acid has been developed.
