The report by the American Forest and Paper Association (AFPA) on the U.S. solid bleached board (SBS) production is discussed. It is observed that the production in the first four months in the year 2004 was 1.84 million tonnes. The total U.S. production of recycled boxboard moved up slightly in April 2004 from the same month a year ago while monthly production of bleached and unbleached boxboard declined. The industrial and converting grades such as tubes and cores, book covers and gypsum wallboard were 1.44 million tonnes, up 1.5% from 1.41 million tonnes a year ago.
