Formation of new structure and phase compositions in complexly alloyed materials

An investigation of the effects of pulse quenching by high power ion beam on structure, phase composition, and mechanical properties of carbon (St20; St45) and alloyed (KhVG; 12KhN3A) steels have been carried out. It is shown that high-speed heating results in formation of low-alloyed martensite, the degree of tetragonality of which has an essential effect on the strength properties of materials investigated.
