Electrical resistivity and short range ordering in copper-yttrium melts

Electrical resistivity of liquid Cu-Y alloys has been measured using the four-probe method within the composition region 0-70 at. % Y in the temperature range 1200-1600 K. The resistivity of the alloys increases strongly with increasing yttrium concentration and does not show a significant variation with temperature. The percolation theory has been applied to calculate the conductivity of the Cu-Y melts taking into account the thermodynamic data for ordered melts calculated using the associated solution model.
