The development of a draught information system for the st. Lawrence Seaway

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation and the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (U.S.), together with the Canadian Hydrographic Service and industry, have developed a dynamic Under Keel Clearance information sys tem for use in the Seaway called the Draught Information System. This has been standardized through a public process and was used in 2015 by over 20% of vessels with an increase in safe ty and a potential for an increase in load carrying capacity under suitable con di tions. This system integrates highresolution bathymetry, water level infor mation, AIS and other factors such as ship dynamics to display real-time information. © Her Majesty the Queen in right of Nova Scotia 2016.
