Preparation and photocatalysis property of phosphomolybdic acid/polymethyl methacrylate composite nanofiber membrane

Phosphomolybdic acid/polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite nanofibers were prepared through electrospinning, which were cold pressed to films. Through the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), it can be observed that the diameter of comp osite fibers decreases obviously with the content of phosphomolybdic acid increa sing compared with that of pure PMMA fibers. IR test shows that phosphomolybdic acid remains Keggin structure in the composite fibers. The photocatalytic activity of composite fiber membrane for methyl orange was investigated by UV test. Phosphomolybdic acid supported on PMMA fibers performs higher catalytic activity than pure PMMA fibers. The composite fiber membrane is easy to be recycled and used, of which the catalytic efficiency doesn't significantly decrease with freq uency of use increasing.
