Numerical simulation and flow visualization of the compressor rotating stalls

A numerical simulation system for axial-flow turbomachine cascabes flows by the vortex cloud modelling is developed. Animated flow pattern shows are made from the simulation results, which has proved to be a very powerful tool for the analysis of the flow phenomena in the flow field. The results show that this system is satisfactory in predicting the stall cell inception and propagation process and has revealed some special flow phenomena. It is hopeful that this analytic system may give a theoretic guidance to the application of the active control techniques for the improvement of the compressor stall margin.
