摘要
It was concluded from recent research results that the plate buckling curves, which are established similar in Eurocode 3 as well as in DIN 18800, do not in all cases safely reflect the ultimate load of locally buckled cross-section elements. Based on earlier research work and own investigations, the influence of boundary conditions, of ratio of dimensions and of residual stresses on the load carrying capacity is discussed in detail within this paper. The studies result in a contradiction between the numerically determined ultimate loads and the empirical experiences. This can only be resolved, if stimulating imperfections are taken into account instead of worst-case imperfections. It is not considered necessary to tighten the current plate buckling curves used in the codes.
