Direct-connected test of subscale motors was investigated, and wake flame was treated by spray collecting residue in the gas generator and ducted rocket motor test. The effects of air/fuel ratio on combustion of secondary chamber of boron-base solid ducted motor were investigated, and test results were compared with numerical simulation results. The comparison results show that the researched boron-based fuel-rich HTPB propellant possesses better low-pressure ignition characteristics and higher jet efficiency; the diameter of condensed combustion products in ducted rocket plume is less than 5 μm; when the air/fuel ratio is very high, the solid ducted motor can still work, but the combustion efficiency is very low.
