Various methods of stud welding are described with regard to their application possibilities, appliance technology, quality assurance and development status. In addition to friction stud welding, emphasis is predominantly placed on drawn-arc stud welding and initial-contact capacitor-discharge stud welding. A few relatively newly developed process variants such as the arc stud welding of bushes and sheets and arc stud brazing are presented as well. The processes are primarily advantageous when the materials and components cannot be joined using conventional fusion welding processes.
