摘要
The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has selected three international ship designers - Spain's Izar, Germany's Blohm+Voss, and US naval architects Gibbs & Cox, to develop concept designes of the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) latest Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD). Izar's work will center on an evolution of its Alvaro de Bazan-class frigate (F100). Blohm+Voss will put forward a modified version of the German Navy's Sachen-class frigate. Gibbs & Cox's wide experience in designing air-defense surface combatants, and expertise in integrating evolutions of the AEGIS air-warfare system into US Navy (USN) ships will see its base AWD concept on a customized guided-missile destroyer (DDG-51).
