A Watcher of Walls

Bill Roltson's hobby of photographing murals is discussed. A professor at the University of Ulster, Roltson, in his latest book, Drawing Support 3: Murals and Transition in the North of Ireland, argues that even after the loyalists declared a cease-fire in October 1994, their murals remained heavy on military imagery. The safety rules for photographing murals that includes staying in the open to avoid suspicion, and staying out of recently violated areas are also elaborated.
