European Commission introduces its second railway package

The European Commission is actively promoting the creation of a common market in railway services. Its new railway package goes further than expected not only in scope but also in terms of the timetable for liberalization. Thus, as early as in 2006, the new package will enable railroad companies, operating in one of the EU countries, to provide cargo transportation services throughout the territory of the European Union.
