摘要
A survey is given regarding the use of pyrogenic silica as a filler in elastomeric compounds. Hydrophobic types are recognised as being well suited to reinforce rubber polymer while avoiding some disadvantages encountered previously when using hydrophilic ones. Reactive groups grafted onto pyrogenic silica surface give rise to enhanced crosslink density of rubbers when cured with peroxide.
